Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hydroponics and Aeroponics?

A proven framing technique using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil, and can include an aggregate substrate, growing media like coconut coir (cocopeat), oasis cube or rockwool, usually horizontally stacked or vertically organized to maximize space along with controlled environment. You can grow Leafy Vegetables, Flowers, Herbs, Fruity vegetables and some Fruits.

While both are soilless farming methods, Aeroponics is a method of growing plants without soil in a vertical tower. This differs from Hydroponics, where plant roots are submerged in a solution of water and nutrients.

In Aeroponics, instead, roots are suspended in the air and irrigated with a nutrient-dense mist or drops. This provides ample oxygen, nutrients, and water for the roots to absorb freely and as needed to grow fast.

The layered stacking of the plants in a 3D round vertical structure makes the arrangement extremely cost-effective and consumes least possible space to grow. This potentially increases the yield at least 10 times more for most plants. This also accelerates the time to grow and increases number of harvests per year.

Aeroponic systems benefit you and your crops, but there are also environmental benefits such as dramatic reductions in water and decrease in use of harmful fertilizers and pesticides. The GreenVayu products and services are 100% SAFE and helps you :

  • Aeroponic vertical system maximize use of space, improves oxygen for roots, and reduce root-rotting found in horizontal systems.

No, all plants cannot be grown successfully in Hydroponics/Aeroponics. For example, those will heavy root system are not most suited for this method. Also, some fruits grown in trees have been designed naturally as a vertical tree structure and already maximize per sq feet space needed to grow. These are obviously not most suitable for additional vertical farming.

Based on GreenVayu and industry research, many types of plants can be now be grown with aeroponics. This method is best suited for green leaves or leafy vegetables (spinach, lettuce, kale, etc.), coriander, tomatoes and cucumbers, fruits like strawberries, blueberries, melon to name a few and about 20 varieties of colorful flowering plants.

Maintenance for our Products

What are key parameters to be monitored and controlled in Aeroponics?

The top three key parameters are:

  • Water: the system needs a minimum level of water for the submerged water pump to work properly.
  • pH (Potential for Hydrogen) measures of how acidic or basic water is, using a 14 point scale.
  • TDS (Totally Dissolved Solids): Refers to the number of substances — such as salts, minerals, metals, etc — that have been dissolved in water. The TDS is measured in PPM (Parts Per Million). The PPM measures the concentration of elements in your nutrient solution.

Total dissolved solids (TDS) are the actual amount of organic and inorganic materials, such as metals, minerals, salts, and ions, dissolved in a particular volume of water; TDS are basically a measure of anything dissolved in water that is not an H2O molecule. In simple words, TDS can be viewed as the food requirements for the plants.

Monitoring the TDS of Aeroponic systems is crucial for successful operations. TDS value for most fully grown plants is optimally in the range of 600-1500 ppm. The younger plants or seedlings need less TDS than fully grown mature plants.

Additionally, the plants observe more nutrients in summer season and lesser in winter. Due to this the TDS in winter needs to be maintained at a slightly higher level.

The nutrient solution pH level is important in Aeroponics because this affects overall nutrient availability to the growing plants. When plants are grown without soil, they may not get the benefits of exposure to organic matter, microorganisms, and the interactions between water and minerals that help to regulate pH levels. This means that we must monitor and timely correct the pH value in the system.

The pH levels ranging between 5.7 and 6.4 is the optimal level for most plants to grow properly.

Usually, water needs to be added or changed in a Aeroponic system once every 5-8 days. This depends also on your climate conditions, season and temperature. You will anyways need to replace any leftover nutrient solution at least every 3-4 weeks.

Water level indicators are exclusively installed in GreenVayu products, providing you an advance warning before water runs out completely.

As and when needed, only a limited use of organic insecticides or pesticides is recommended for vertical gardens to prevent pests and diseases. Neem oil and other organic pesticides will quickly eliminate pests and diseases in most cases. Please Feel free to contact GreenVayu, and our R&D experts will recommend additional measures, if needed.

Health and Safety

Is PVC safe for Aeroponics?

Yes, You need food-grade PVC pipes for Hydroponics and Aeroponics, it is 100% safe for use in gardening, drinking water systems, or other systems where it will come into contact with food. Any pipe that is suitable for potable water will work just fine.

Furthermore, GreenVayu uses only certified Food grade PVC/ uPVC pipes, net cups buckets, paints – most of which are also Sunlight and UV protected. We carefully select ALL our suppliers and methodically test their products.

Yes these are 100 % healthy. Supported by many independent studies from world’s reputed organizations. Furthermore, the GreenVayu products are tested in the certified lab. The lab reports are available online for your 100 % satisfaction.

The labs testing GreenVayu food produce are leading ABL ACCREDITED LABORATORY, Authorized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and the Ministry of AYUSH, and recognized by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The laboratories are Certified by ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series), ISO 14001 (Environment Management System), ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management System).

Delivery and Payments

How long will it take to deliver a parcel?

It depends on the destination. Indian post and other selected courier companies typically takes 5 to 8 working days to deliver to most locations in India. Delivery times may vary based on factors such as distance, weather conditions, and the efficiency of the local postal/courier service.

We usually deliver seedlings/ small plants, wherever it is feasible to transport. In some cases, we deliver original non-GMO seeds when seedlings cannot be easily transported. We provide you with detailed instructions in both situations.

We can accept all payment method just like – Debit/Credit cards, Q R code, UPI GPay/PhonePay/Paytm, Cash on delivery
